Ode to Mrs. Robinson
Original Embellished Cyanotype on Watercolor Paper (11” x 14”), matted to 16” x 20”
True to its name, Ode to Mrs. Robinson is a bold, intimate cyanotype featuring two delicately arranged cannabis, leaves—stacked in opposite directions, floating freely across the composition. Each leaf is rendered in soft, smoky tones of gray-purple, with lighter lavender-gray highlights that glow gently against the richly toned background.
The veining of the leaves is traced in raised gold foil, bringing elegance and luminous texture to the organic forms. As with many traditional cyanotypes, the natural exposure process left behind deep indigo outlines around the gold foil, creating a striking contrast and further defining the shapes.
The background is a lush tapestry of ocean blues, deep teals, mossy greens, and hints of golden brown, marked by fluid, rust-colored lines and delicate speckling—giving the piece the appearance of a dreamscape touched by time.
Signed, sealed, and matted in white to 16” x 20”, Ode to Mrs. Robinson carries not only visual beauty but also a meaningful origin story—born from a serendipitous visit to a local plant shop and a three year long journey from creation to release.
