Under the Lens-Drop Cloth Creation III
Under the Lens
24 x 24 inches | Acrylic Mixed Media on Canvas Cradled Wood Panel
“Under the Lens” is part of my signature Drop Cloth Creation series. Each Drop Cloth Creation begins life as a canvas laid beneath my workspace to catch every drip, mark, brush stroke, and palette knife wipe as I paint. Over time, these layers accumulate into a rich tapestry of unintended beauty—capturing the authentic energy of my studio process.
Once the drop cloth is filled with color and texture, I refine the work, enhancing areas that sing with movement and covering those that distract, until a final abstract composition emerges.
This 24 x 24-inch piece features organic, amoeba-like shapes reminiscent of life under a microscope, floating across a softly layered background of teals, blacks, browns, whites, and golds. Striations of gold and black sweep through the canvas, while circular gold chain-like patterns drift across the surface. Large white square outlines, highlighted with textured gold foil medium, add structural contrast and depth.
Mounted on a cradled wood panel with finished sides, signed, dated, and fitted with hanging hardware, “Under the Lens” is ready to bring its unique sense of organic elegance and creative story into your space.
